Our Mission
We started Joyful Clinics because we believe primary care should feel personal — not like a number in a system. Our nurse practitioner-led model gives you 30–45 minutes per visit (not the rushed 15 you're used to), a provider who actually knows your name and your health story, right here in Richmond. We take a whole-person approach that looks at your physical health, lifestyle, and long-term goals — because good care starts with actually knowing you.

Thadbring Dowling, APRN
Thadbring Dowling, APRN, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals and families across the lifespan. Her clinical background includes family practice, urgent care, and addiction rehabilitation medicine, giving her broad experience caring for a variety of healthcare needs.
Thadbring earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona, and is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She values building meaningful relationships with her patients and helping them feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their healthcare.
Her approach to care is holistic and focused on the whole person—not simply a diagnosis. Thadbring works collaboratively with patients to develop care plans that reflect their individual needs and goals, with an emphasis on prevention and long-term wellness.
In 2024, Thadbring relocated from Phoenix to Richmond to be closer to her extended family. She values family, faith, service, and community and enjoys spending time with her four adult sons and extended family, as well as taking quiet walks along the James River.
Thadbring strives to create a welcoming environment where every patient feels listened to, respected, and supported.
